Read moreDavid Kaye (1954-2019) grew up in Hampshire and London. He attended the Jewish boarding school, Carmel College, before reading Economics at Queens’ College, Cambridge. He went on to train as an accountant, then joined Lancing Bagnall, the family firm. David spent the next forty years running businesses in both Canada and the UK.
Throughout his life David’s joint passions were music and photography.
He met his wife, Louise, at a concert in the Royal Festival Hall in 1977. They married in 1981 and together they attended hundreds of concerts and operas, travelled to music festivals around the world, and helped many musicians though the purchase of instruments and other forms of support.
After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2008, he reduced his work commitments and was able to complete his ambition of travelling to every continent with his camera.
David Kaye was a hugely musical person and great supporter of young musicians. AYM has established this Award in his honour.
The first recipient will be decided later this year. Applications for this Award should be made via the normal application procedure.
