Read moreTwelve year old Erin started playing violin when she was just six. In 2019 she and her family moved back to the West Midlands after a time living in Shanghai.
“I was sad to leave China, but excited to hear about the Birmingham Conservatoire and their junior Saturday classes. I wanted to attend them to develop my musicianship and play with other young musicians. When I was accepted on to the course, I was very happy and grateful for the support from AYM to help with the costs.”
“I’ve really enjoyed attending the Junior Birmingham Conservatoire over the past 12 months and feel I have made good progress with my violin and voice studies. The facilities are incredible and I am grateful to have such talented and supportive teachers. The theory and aural classes have also been useful. I am hoping to take my Grade 5 Music Theory exam next year. Being a member of the String Orchestra has been a highlight as I have been able to meet other violinists similar to myself!”
Erin’s fees are in part supported through the Simon Richards Award, supported by AYM’s kind donors. With help from our donors, we can give hundreds of young people the support to achieve their musical goals. Thank you!
