“I have improved so much over the past year.”

“Ben is passionate about music and his talent and potential are clear to see.”

12 year old Ben, from Bradford, joined AYM’s Furthering Talent programme in April 2019. His flute teacher Laura continues:

“AYM has provided Ben with a number of opportunities to further develop his skills. A one to one lesson every week allows him to really develop his tone production, technique and performance skills.

“Ben has also developed his ensemble skills by playing in a number of music groups. A weekly theory club ensures that Ben builds excellent musical knowledge, also enhancing his playing. He’s been able to attend workshops, ranging from composition to music technology, helping to make him a well-rounded musician.”

In December 2020, Ben’s hard work and dedication paid off when he passed his ABRSM Grade 4 flute exam. He paid for the exam using his bursary provided by AYM. He also now plays in Bradford Youth Wind Orchestra – the Music Education Hub’s most advanced wind band. Ben says:

“Through lockdown I’ve have enjoyed playing. AYM was a great help as they were able to make sure I could keep learning and improving even though most places weren’t doing lessons. Thanks to them I have improved so much over the past year.”

With the help of our supporters, we’re able to help hundreds of young musicians like Ben every year. Thank you!
