Furthering Talent: End of Year Review 2021
2021 was an eventful year for many reasons and we really wanted to share some of the fantastic work that has taken place as part of the Furthering Talent programme…
Read moreAs music lessons are moved online due to the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve been working with our Furthering Talent Local Coordinators to help those young people on the programme who may not have the technology or connectivity to access their lessons this way.
We’ve been working with partners and teachers across the sector to come up with new ideas and creative approaches to ensure equal access for all. This includes purchasing phone data packages for students without a broadband connection and part-funding a broadband connection for others.
Some Furthering Talent teachers are delivering exercises over the phone, or simply posting work to their students. Additional approaches include using the programme’s personal bursaries to purchase CD players for students, so teachers can record lessons onto a CD and deliver them by post. All these measures are aimed at meeting each young person’s musical needs to ensure that no matter what their circumstances, all are still able to access musical learning.
AYM is a founding member of the Alliance for a Musically Inclusive England
