Furthering Talent: End of Year Review 2021
2021 was an eventful year for many reasons and we really wanted to share some of the fantastic work that has taken place as part of the Furthering Talent programme…
Read moreOn March 5 2020 AYM’s family of supporters came together for a celebratory evening of music at Lincoln’s Inn, London. Of course we didn’t know then that this would be our last performance platform and fundraising event for some time. We look forward to meeting together to celebrate live music again in the future.

Katie (10) who’d travelled from Beverley in Yorkshire, opened the evening with the first movement of Saint-Saens’ Bassoon Sonata. Katie’s mum Karen also shared with the audience some of the joys, challenges and of course, costs, of supporting Katie’s fast-paced musical development.
Yadzi (13) is a student at The Purcell School, having gained a Government Music and Dance Scheme scholarship. We’ve been supporting him with the cost of sheet music, which for someone progressing through repertoire as fast as Yadzi, adds up to a lot! He treated the audience to the first movement of Mozart’s Sonata in C minor and Liszt’s Hungarian Romance.
Ynyr (17) lives in Caernarfon in Wales. Every Saturday he makes the journey to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester where he studies at their Junior Department. AYM helped Ynyr to buy his viola, an instrument that will serve him well for his forthcoming senior conservatoire studies and into his career. Ynyr showed off the instrument’s capabilities – and his enthusiasm for extended techniques – with Garth Knox’s extraordinary Up, Down, Sideways, Round.

AYM would like to thank Trustee Thomas Sharpe QC for his help in organising and supporting this event, as well as all at Lincoln’s Inn for hosting us. We’re also very grateful to Yamaha for supplying the piano for the concert.
Musical talent is everywhere but, more than ever, opportunity. If you would like to support AYM’s work please consider joining our community of AYM Champions and AYM Angels by making a regular monthly donation.
