I’ve got a question about my music making – can you help?

Whether you’d like to know about other sources of funding, where to find a new teacher, what courses are coming up or how to go about buying a new instrument – or if you have any other musical question - then just get in touch! AYM provides a straightforward point of access to the answers you need and we can help put you in touch with our partner organisations across the country. So please just ask!

How did AYM start?

We exist because of one man’s consuming interest in music. Robert Lewin was a musician and instrument collector whose enthusiasm and passion for stringed instruments led him to create a collection of instruments and bows of extraordinary quality. He expressed the wish that when he died the gradual sale of this collection would provide a source of support for talented young musicians. AYM was founded as a result of his generous legacy. Where do the funds come from?

The initial funding came from the gradual sale of Robert Lewin’s collection at auction. However, we have to constantly fundraise to ensure that the small remaining endowment doesn’t run out and that our work can continue.
